ABOUT SICA MUBS

SICA is Students Information & Computing Association the MUBS ICT Association that officially came into existence in Makerere University Business School on 7th September 2018 with a launch with various administrators from MUBS. It is initially a brain child of a group of Computing students under the faculty of Computing and Informatics who realized the need of not only to have a binding academic Association but also for it to act as a platform to impact students positively through equipping them with practical ICT skills and knowledge both given in and out of lectures of the different MUBS programs.

Our Objectives

To promote the academic welfare of the members through harmonizing theoretical computing principles with practical computing concepts.
To assist in the utilization, enhancement and promotion of Information and Computer Technology within MUBS and Uganda at large to play as the major body in Facilitating the use of ICT in Business organizations.

Help to develop strategies to meet the necessary requirements for the development of literacy and skills regarding computer technology.
To provide and protect rights and privileges, benefits to individuals, institutions, companies and organizations affiliated to SICA.
To provide support, academic trainings and facilities to the members of SICA.
Ensure ICT advocacy, advisory and implementation within MUBS.
To assist in the institutional development of information Communication Technology and Computer skills.
To develop coordination among the students and computer professionals with their services.
To organize and conduct seminars, workshops, talk and training programmes and to provide consultancy and research aided services to tile MUBS society.
To exchange knowledge, skills and technology in the field of information and communication technology with similar computing associations within and outside the country.
To actively pursue burning ICT issues of MUBS and Uganda which require professional and academic attention.
To collect and disseminate information regarding the ICT sector of Uganda and tile Globally.
To explore new horizon of challenges and opportunities that can boost the technological, economic and education scene in Uganda.
To carry out activities that might conceivably enhance, supplement or embellish the understanding, love and knowledge of computing.
To promote the social welfare of the members through social and interactive functions.
